UNIFORM POLICY
The appearance of the members of the Somerset Academy West Florida family is of paramount importance to us as we believe that pride in our appearance is fundamental to good character development and success. The following is the uniform policy that is endorsed by the school. Students are required to follow this policy, and failure to do so will result in administrative action being taken against the student. Uniforms must be worn every day. Students who arrive to school without proper uniform may be sent home, and a warning documenting violation of this policy will be issued. After three violations of this policy, the student will be issued a referral that will result in disciplinary consequences.
Somerset Academy requires every student to be dressed in the proper uniform each day. Uniforms are mandatory for all students and will be strictly enforced to ensure student safety. Please visit our website for uniform guidelines for Somerset Academy West Florida:
Daily Uniform
- Tops: Navy blue or Kelly green polo shirt; white button down top with school logo; uniform tops must be tucked in at all times
- Bottoms: Navy or khaki shorts, skorts, or slacks
- Belts: Brown or black belts required
- Shoes: Solid color shoes/sneakers. Neutral colors only. Closed-toe. Solid-colored, neutral-colored socks required.
Shoes and Accessories
- Sneakers or shoes – Must be clean; no fluorescent or wild patterns; no lights or wheels; no heels or platforms; closed-toe only; full-back only; no crocs, slides, or sandals
- Socks - Must be worn daily; solid, neutral color only; knee high socks allowed with short or skorts in navy, white, or gray
- Belts - Must be worn with any bottoms with belt loops; must be basic brown or black in color; no pattern or woven belts; no spikes or studs; no bulky buckles; no rope or string belts; must fit appropriately (not dangle)
- Jewelry – Small and simple; no large hoops or dangly earrings; no long necklaces or accessories hanging over school uniform shirts; no bangle bracelets; no facial jewelry; no visible tattoos
- Hair – No brightly colored hair (ie, blue, purple, green); nothing distracting or unhygienic
- Bags– Students must use a backpack. Bags on wheels are not allowed for safety reasons.
Alternative Dress Days
- Spirit Shirts – An order form will be sent home on the first day of school. These may be worn on Dress Down Days, during field trips, and for specific special events.
- Dress Down Days: Student may dress down on Fridays. The Dress Down Day Dress Code will be strictly enforced. The cost is $1.00 for tops and $1.00 for bottoms.
- PE Uniforms: An order form will be sent home on the first day of school for PE shirts. These may be worn on PE days with navy blue solid-colored athletic shorts or sweatpants.
- Student must wear sneakers and socks on P.E. days. Sneakers should be solid, neutral colors. Socks can be navy, white, or gray.
